World History is the story of people of different times and places lived. It is the record of discoveries such as better ways of farming and new machines. It is also a story of the building of cities and nations, and of the creation of beautiful art and music.

History is all about change-changing times and changing ideas. long ago, for example slavery was an accepted part of everyday life. the ancient Egyptians made slaves of their prisoners. So did the Greeks, the Romans, and Aztecs, and many others. However, today people in much of the world know the slavery is wrong.
About 500 years ago, the was a big change in the way people pictured their world. People came to understand the true shape of our planet. They realized earth is round, not flat. Explorers set out from Europe on long ocean voyages. they discovered a huge body of land where they thought there was only ocean. North and South America took their role in the story of World History
